We set sail early this morning to head to West Bay on Providence Island. We met back up with Eric & Debbie. Once again, we must eat lobster for dinner.... Had to share with Eric & Debbie...
We will probably be here for a couple of days. May take a cab into Nassau one day, since my camera is trying to die on me. I cannot be without a camera on this trip... Plus, would be fun just to see Nassau for a short period of time and then get back out here where it is nice & quiet...

Finally, in the Bahamas

We left Miami, Florida on 12/6...
The trip across the Gulf Stream was an awesome sail. Once across, we continued across the Great Bahama Bank and the Tongue of the Ocean. We docked at Chub Cay to clear immigrations and to receive our cruising permit for the Bahamas along with our pole spear and fishing permits. After filling up with diesel and water, we went around to the bay and anchored off of Chub Cay.

Key Biscayne

We are in Key Biscayne, Florida at a beautiful little harbor, No Name Harbor, to be exact. It looks as if Mother Nature has this place reserved for us for a few more days. Who knows at this point, it could be a week or more. We are just waiting on the North wind to NOT blow.
I guess when you are not on a schedule, it really doesn't matter where you are. You have to be somewhere, no matter where... Right?

Well, we got here Thanksgiving night and are just waiting for a break in the wind, so we can move on. It looks like we might get to leave tomorrow evening and either head towards Key Largo or actually get the break we need to cross the Gulf Stream...

Been trying to catch some fish, but have only had a couple of strikes. Will try more today. I will not give up... :)

It has been too windy, so we have not been able to put the dingy in the water. Too bad, because Indian Key is a historical State park and would be so neat to explore. Maybe later this afternoon the wind will die down enough to be able to launch the dingy and explore the area.

We have had a couple of great evenings reconnecting with some friends we made while living in Guanaja. They now have a home here in Marathon and happened to come down the same day as we arrived.

Thanks Tommy & Jan for being so kind in running us around and showing us some of Marathon we probably would not have seen.

Now off in the dingy to do our laundry.

 Hopefully the batteries will show up tomorrow and we might sail over to Biscayne Key. From there we will head to Bimini, Bahamas.
